Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. In the film and television business, she is famous for her many awards and nominations. Bassett was born in New York New York and raised by an aunt who lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina. At the age of Bassett was about five, she and her sister were moved into St. Petersburg, Florida where they lived with their mother who had separated from their father. Bassett when she was in high school was a fan of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she decided to become an actress. In 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She earned a diploma from The Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. the Yale School of Drama conferred a Master of Fine Arts in African American Studies to Angela Bassett in the year. She attended the school following: Jordan Park elementary school, Disston Middle School for 7th graders, Azalea Middle School for 8th & 9th grades as well as Boca Ciega High School.
